The village of Populonia is one of the most magical and rich in history places of the Etruscan Coast. It occupies the top of a low hill surrounded by the sea and with an extraordinary view over the Gulf of Baratti.
In the heart of the old town you can find the medieval walls and the fortress of the fifteenth century. It is a place of unique charm where time seems to have stopped. However, at the same time, along the narrow alleys of the old town there are many modern shops. In Populonia is even possible to visit a small museum where are collected etruscan and roman findings found in the area and in the sea.
Not far from the village is located the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, a wide natural area crossed by several paths for the public that wants to visit by foot the ancient etruscan necropolis.
